BlueCrest University College – Education for Life!

My journey at BlueCrest University College was life-changing and full of opportunities that helped shape who I am today. I was honored to receive a Presidential Scholarship, which supported me throughout my 4-year academic journey. This opportunity made it possible for me to pursue my passion in IT without financial stress.

One of the most powerful tools BlueCrest gave us was free access to Coursera. I took full advantage of it—completing multiple world-class courses in Web Development, Python Programming, UI/UX, and Robotics from top institutions like the University of Michigan, IBM, University of Colorado, and Duke University. What’s exciting is that many of the skills I gained through those courses—especially in Python and Fullstack Web Development—are exactly what I use today in my daily work as a Trainer at OpenLabs Ghana.

Among the standout moments in my journey was taking an Arduino Robotics course from POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology). That course deepened my knowledge in electronics and control systems, enabling me to work confidently with hardware like Arduino. Combined with my foundation in LEGO Mindstorm NXT and EV3 robotics—which I was exposed to back in Senior High School—I was able to quickly adapt to understanding Keenon Service Robots, the autonomous machines now used in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, airports, and event centers.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I teamed up with my colleague Ernest Ghansah to build impactful tech solutions:

  • A Smart Bin that allows contactless waste disposal,
  • An Automatic Hand Washing Machine for public safety,

These weren’t just school projects—they were real-world solutions built with skills we had developed through BlueCrest’s practical, hands-on curriculum.

What truly makes BlueCrest stand out is how much it embodies its slogan: “Education for Life!” From day one, our lecturers encouraged us to think like innovators. In my very first semester, we were given an entrepreneurship project to create a business solution. That challenge sparked my curiosity and introduced me to website development. By semester two in Level 100, I had already started building websites—thanks to the guidance of our dedicated and knowledgeable lecturers, who always went the extra mile to support our growth.

Today, I proudly serve as a Trainer at OpenLabs Ghana, where I teach students the very same technologies that shaped my career—HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, Python, Django, and more. I also develop websites and web applications for clients, and run a growing YouTube channel, where I teach coding and share insights to help others build their own tech journeys.

BlueCrest didn’t just give me a degree.
It gave me confidence, clarity, and the competence to build, teach, and lead.
That’s what “Education for Life!” really looks like.
