BLUECREST COLLEGE STUDENT CREATES 3D VISUALS OF THE CAMPUS

The BlueCrest University College is known to be the pioneer of Information Technology in Ghana, and we take pride in that by ensuring all students who pass through our IT department graduate with exceptional skills that help them to stand out in the job market.

In every student’s final year, he or she is to undertake a project, to sum up the knowledge acquired in the college. Cyril Nyarko Tawiah, a final year student of BlueCrest School of Technology studying BSc. Information Technology, made a 3D visualization of the BlueCrest University College’s campus for his final year project. “I picked the school as my focus point because I wanted my project to be one that people could relate to. This project means a lot to me and I must say I put in a lot of work to be able to achieve this. I want anyone who sees this project anywhere to be able to tell that this is BlueCrest. Even when people search for the school online without visiting the campus yet, they should see a huge resemblance between the pictures and my work”, stated Cyril.

Cyril shared how he started his project in semester 4 when he had just started learning this course, and he reached completion in his 7th semester.

He also walked us through his entire operation, from start to finish. “To begin I had to go round the campus from corner to corner to take pictures before I started this project. In total, I used four (4) applications for this project.”

“I started with Sketch Up Pro, which was used for the 3D modeling of the campus, and drawing the initial plan of the school. After about 3 semester’s I had completed the 3D model, and I went on to the second application, which was Lumion 10 pro. With this application, I was able to render the 3D model in hyperrealism and make the video out of it.

This application gave the full day and night sequence lightning effect, reflections, shadows and other effects. After a few more adjustments and I felt the work so far looked good enough, I continued with the render. I then went on to use Adobe Lightroom. This application was used for color correction. For example, if I render a picture and I probably don’t like the color of the sky, maybe too vibrant or too low, I can use the Adobe Lightroom application to make all these corrections. When I was finally done with everything I used Filmora Wondershare to add the transitions and background music to the video as well as some little effects and texts.”

Speaking on what his plans are for the future, Cyril expressed his desire to add Architectural Designing to his skill set to help him have a strong base to excel in the real estate industry.

Admissions are ongoing. Visit www.bluecrest.edu.gh for more details.
