‘AfroFest’ debuts successfully at BCC

To promote the use of products made in Africa, students of Mass Communications at BlueCrest College, Ghana organised ‘AfroFest 2019’ at the college auditorium on June 12, 2019. Students of semester IV held this full-day event as part of their mandatory end-of-semester theatre arts project.

The festival featured several cultural events, including poetry recitals, comedy shows, theatre plays, music & dance programmes etc.

The event also offered a platform to young entrepreneurs, who set up several stalls and kiosks in the college premises to showcase their products, ideas and services.

The event was open to the public, and the entry was free for all.

Products on sale included natural drinks, organic shea-butter creams, toothpaste, gadgets, leather jackets, bags and accessories etc.

BlueCrest’s Head of Mass Communications Department, Ms Sreemoyee Thapa Dasgupta said helping the local economy by creating more opportunities for the youth was at the core of ‘AfroFest 2019’. She also said the department is exploring the idea of making AfroFest an annual event.
