BlueCrest College convocation for 2018 batch
BlueCrest College, Ghana conducted the fourteenth graduation day for the class of 2018 in Accra on March 30, 2019. The event took place at a packed Amegashie Auditorium at the University of Ghana Business School campus. More than 130 students received their degrees and diplomas in various disciplines from the renowned tertiary educational institution.
The convocation ceremony was set to the theme of “Nurturing self-sustainable Africa through education”.
In a heart-felt speech on ethical conduct, Chairman Mr Dev Varyani said, “Go ahead and live you passions. Remember that for all the good work you do, nature is going to give you the same back. If you give misery to nature, nature is going to give you back misery. This is my most important message for you — In order to be successful, you need to take responsibility.”
Mass Communication student Ms Muneerah Ajoke Abdulrahman was adjudged as the Student of the graduating year. In her speech, she recalled the various ups and downs that she and her classmates faced together during their term at BlueCrest College.
“We have been artfully and skilfully groomed by this fantastic institution to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, creative artists and trailblazers. We should strive to live by choice, not chance; to make changes, not excuses; to choose self-esteem over self-pity and most of all, to live our best lives,” she said.
The panel of speakers included keynote speaker Prof James Ephraim, Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Dr. Dampson Dandy George, and UEW Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Ernest Akwasi Amponsah.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ahmed Jamaldeen, who was also the class topper from BSc (Information Technology).
The convocation programme was interspersed with short music and dance performances by local artists. The event was followed by buffet lunch for graduates and alumni.
