BlueCrest School of Fashion & Design (SFD) won several top prizes at the inter-college fashion competition, organised by the Ministry of Art and Culture to promote locally made traditional clothes in Ghana early this month.

SFD students participated and won in the following categories.

Evening wear (1st prize)

Casual wear (1st prize)

Swim wear (1st prize)

Casual wear (2nd prize)

Avant garde (3rd prize)

The event was held at Kwame Nkrumah Gardens, Accra on March 9, 2019. Winners will collect their awards in an official ceremony that will be held on March 31, 2019 at the National Theatre. During the ceremony, SFD will also showcase a collection sponsored by GTP textiles.

The month of March is known in Ghana as the Wear Ghana month. It is widely celebrated in households and organisations across the sixteen regions of the country as people flaunt traditional and locally made clothes.

The purpose of this celebration is to encourage traditional Ghanaian wear and support local manufacturers, artists and designers who are facing the heat of fast fashion and tilting preference towards western fashion trends.
