From Fashion Runways to Luxury Desserts: The Inspiring Journey of BlueCrest Alumna, Beatrice Addy
From the fashion runway to the business boardroom, and now into the world of luxury desserts, Beatrice Addy’s story is one of reinvention, resilience, and relentless creativity. A two-time graduate of BlueCrest University College in Fashion Design, earning both her Higher National Diploma (HND) and Bachelor of Science (BSc). Beatrice has gone on to become a valedictorian, an Outstanding Student Award recipient, and a graduate of the Master of Business Creation (MBC) program at the University of Utah, USA. Today, she stands at the helm of Siklitë Desserts, a luxury dessert brand celebrating Ghana’s rich cocoa heritage, while also serving as an inspiration to young creatives across Africa.
Reflecting on her educational journey, Beatrice credits BlueCrest as the foundation for her creative and academic excellence. “Fashion taught me creativity, attention to detail, and discipline skills that shaped not only my designs but also my entrepreneurial mindset,” she shares. Her time at BlueCrest was marked by memorable moments of collaboration, late-night design sessions, and the thrill of showcasing her work on the runway.
It was also at BlueCrest that her leadership potential began to shine. Rising as valedictorian boosted her confidence to lead boldly in postgraduate studies. “Being valedictorian proved to me that I could excel academically and represent my peers with pride. That confidence carried into my master’s program and beyond,” she says.
At the University of Utah, Beatrice was part of the inaugural MBC Africa Cohort, where she combined creativity with business innovation. Her hard work and consistency paid off, earning her the Outstanding Student Award. A recognition of her academic excellence, leadership, and entrepreneurial impact. She describes it as a symbol of what is possible when passion meets persistence.
Yet, her journey wasn’t without challenges. Balancing academics with running a business demanded resilience and strong time management. “I overcame by building a support system and learning to delegate effectively,” she explains. Through it all, her faith and vision to inspire her community kept her motivated.
Today, Beatrice is charting exciting new paths. Expanding Siklitë Desserts into new markets, exploring the possibility of a PhD, and creating mentorship opportunities for young creatives. Her message to current BlueCrest students is clear: “Dream big, but back it up with hard work and consistency. Build relationships with mentors, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.”
For Beatrice Addy, the journey has only just begun. But already, her story stands as a shining example of what it means to merge creativity with leadership and transform passion into purpose
