On the 17th of June, 2021, the BlueCrest University College held its 21st Matriculation Ceremony to officially welcome all freshmen into the school. Present at the event was the Rector of the school, members of staff, alumni representatives, and most importantly the first-year students.
The event commenced with an opening prayer followed by the singing of the national anthem and school anthem. Ms. Elsie of the Student Success Office welcomed all guests and gave a brief history of the school and the importance of matriculation in the life of a student. This was followed by Mr. Ransford Sowu introducing all dignitaries present.
The Rector of the institution, Dr. Anand Agrawal addressed the matriculates by first congratulating them on being able to gain admission to this prestigious institution. He encouraged them to never forget why they came here and advised that they continue to work hard to achieve their goals. This address was followed by the matriculates being led by the Registrar of the school, Mr. Eric Hanson, to take their matriculation oath.
Mr. Derrick Kpakpo Addo, a representative of the alumni body was invited to share a few words of encouragement with the students. Mr. Addo who is currently the Projects and Business Development Officer at Base2 Technologies advised the freshmen to take their academic work seriously. In his speech, he shared his tragic story with the matriculates and encouraged them to persevere no matter what hurdles they may face. He also asked them to take internship opportunities seriously since it’ll give them the experience they need to excel in their various fields.
The matriculation ceremony doubled as an award ceremony as the school took this opportunity to recognize and award students and staff for their exceptional works and contributions towards making the school a better one. The awardees included students who had received external awards, students who had excelled in their academics, students who were very active in campus events, and staff members who had gone out of their way to meet the needs of the students.
The event came to an end with the vote of thanks by the SRC President, Ms. Rosina Naab, followed by the closing prayer by Mr. Tidiane. These monumental moments in the lives of our freshmen were captured as they adorned their matriculation gowns and took many pictures.
To all matriculates, we say congratulations and welcome the premiere educational center. To all awardees, we say ‘Ayekoo’ and keep up the good work.
